Tegeta Academy presented the main stage of the training program for heavy equipment operators. The main novelty of the course will be the high quality and functional special equipment simulator, which Tegeta Academy acquired within the USAID program.

Tegeta Academy started development of training / retraining program for heavy equipment operators in 2022. The project is implemented within the framework of the five — year program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - employers for Vocational Education ($24 million).

"Taking care of professional skills development is the main priority for Tegeta Academy. At the first stage of the project, the Academy trained the team, developed programs, acquired a simulator, strengthened partnerships with various employers and signed a memorandum with 10 companies. The combination of theoretical, simulation and practical training is the most effective and result-oriented way in the development of training programs, which will give heavy equipment operators relevant knowledge and develop the necessary skills to develop them into competent and qualified specialists. This program will start in July, " - Otar Sikharulidze, director of Tegeta Academy.

Within the framework of the project, a survey of employers was conducted and the market needs were identified in terms of qualified operators; based on the survey, three training and retraining programs were developed for excavator, excavator-loader and forked loader operators.

In the process of theoretical training, trainees will master the basic structure of equipment, maintenance and operation rules, Health and safety standards. By means of heavy equipment simulator purchased by Tegeta Academy, the trainees will acquire perfect and in-depth competence.

"Driving license in Georgia will be issued to special equipment operators without practical knowledge. That is why special equipment operators have to learn how to manage in real environment, in parallel with work, which causes various problems for companies — increase of costs, damage of equipment, delay of work process. And simulator training will be a new word for the market. It will solve a lot of problems and create new opportunities. At the moment, the simulator is in working condition, the Academy trainers have retrained with Finnish professionals and learned how to use the simulator and how to integrate the simulation exercises into the training programs," —Giorgi tsinaridze, head of the commercial projects development service of Tegeta Academy.

In total, 165 persons will be retrained at Tegeta Academy under the heavy equipment operators retraining program.
